Sorry - I have looked at Preferences>Text Editing but can see no reference to either paragraphs or indents. Am I looking in the wrong place? If not, how do you control these?

The text view at the top of that pane allows you to set the default paragraph formatting. Use the ruler to change the indents of that paragraph and then save your changes (“Apply” or “OK”). Any new documents you create will use the new settings.

PS - Scrivener people make this a bit more obvious for dunces like me!
I am a Scrivener person… (There are only two of us.) I thought the Help file made it pretty clear that you “use the ruler and the “Set Font” button beneath the text view to set the default text style of new documents”…
