How to copy/paste binder headings?

I have the structure of the book in the binder, laid out in parts and chapter headings. I want to create a new table of contents by copying and pasting that list of headings.

Any way to do this?

Depending on what output format you File > Compile your project to you can get Scrivener to do that for you automatically. Why bother copying and pasting stuff now that you might change later?

Select all the items in the binder you want. Press CMD C.

Open a text file (in Scrivener or elsewhere) and press CMD V.

(This also works with Finder windows in OS X.)

If you’re trying to create a Table of Contents, I would suggest the Edit -> Copy Special -> Copy Documents as ToC command, then paste the results into a new document.

For more information on manually generating the ToC, see Chapter 23 of the Scrivener manual.
