How to delete invisibles?

im not sure why but in some of my initial chapters, when i go to edit, the cursor positions itself at the line above where i am trying to edit. ive looked everywhere to see what command might be causing this disconnect but cannot find anything out-of-the-ordinary. please help me understand how to correct it .

the invisibles are making the cursor misalign with the text im editting. how do i delete them

You can also add “Invisibles” to the toolbar when you customize it (right-click----“customize toolbar”

See?

You can delete them just like any other character.

For tables in particular – which are an especially common source of problems – you’ll need Format → Table → Remove Table.

Material pasted from the web in particular is a common source of weird invisible characters. Edit → Paste and Match Style helps, but isn’t a guarantee.

no tables were used and nothing from the web. i discovered the invisibles by going to “view” and then “text editting” but i cant delete them.

Please post a screenshot. I’ll check your trust settings to make sure you can.

NOTE IN BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER OF TEXT, I HAVE THE CURSOR AFTER ‘PROFESSION” AND IT ACTUALLY IS ABOVE ‘SPEND’.

HERE IS WHAT THE INVISIBLE ICON LOOKS LIKE (A “P”):

Those are paragraph breaks. Are “embarrassing” and “spend” supposed to be in different paragraphs?

NO, THESE ARE PARAGRAPH BREAKS, WITH THE BACKWARD P (AFTER “she died”)
