Pulling my hair out here. I have uploaded my Kindle version of my book to Amazon and would like to upload a paperback version, but the chapters are not all starting on odd (recto) pages. There does not seem to be any option in the compile to force a page to start on recto unlike the mac version.
How do I do this? I tried to put in a blank page with <$BLANK_PAGE> but I ended up with a page that said ‘blank page’ instead.
Not understanding why this is so difficult. I have never read a paperback in which the chapters started on the left, so why is this not automatic or at least a simple fix?
I would also like to see this feature in the Windows version of Scrivener (it’s how I found your quesiton), but alas the Windows version seems to be the redheaded stepchild for some reason. It’s my understanding that they’ll be updating it soon, though, and I hope this feature makes it in. Otherwise, I guess you just have to compile to RTF and then use your word processor to fix the chapter starts before saving it again as a PDF or whatever file type you want, which, of course, is not ideal. Maybe someone else has a solution t hat’s not “get a Mac”, but it’s been two weeks since you asked your question, so I doubt it.
So, it’s not just me, then? I don’t know how to feel about this.
I might start having to dissuade the folks who I told to buy Scrivener and operate on Windows :-/ Works well on MAC, but this lack of option really hamstrings self-publishers like all my cohorts
I’m posting 3 months after you all, so It’s still not fixed.
Folks, this likely won’t be fixed in the current Windows version. The two Windows developers are spending their time on the v3 version, which will be a massive overhaul of the tool. You can check out the Windows beta version for yourselves, if you like, but read the beta notes before doing so, as my understanding is that Compile in the beta is as yet incomplete.
