How to permanent assign Draft and Research to specific panes

Hi,

My apologies if this was already answered but I could not find it in this forum. Probably this is a common requirement and it was already addressed here.
My question is “simple”, I guess… In my way of using scrivener for academic writing I find most convenient to have a layout of two vertical panes. The left pane is used for the writing draft documents and the right one for the research documents (pdfs, etc.). What I want is that every time I click on a document in the draft folder the document opens for edition always in the left pane, and when I click on any document of the research folder it always opens in the right pane, no matter were the focus is. It is possible to configure scrivener to behave this way?

Thank you very much in advance,
António.

Hi António,

There’s no way to do exactly what you want (tying the views to specific folders could get awkward), but you can get pretty close:

  1. Use View > Binder Affects to “Left Editor”. This will ensure that whenever you click on the binder, only the left editor will be affected, no matter where the focus is.

  2. Whenever you want to load something into the right pane from the Research folder, just drag the document from the binder onto the header bar of the right editor.

Hope that helps.

All the best,
Keith

Thank you very much Keith, it’s not 100% but I can live with that

Regards,
António.
