Scrivener 3 latest version on Mojave 10.14.5
I have many documents in my project, from which all the text has been cut out (Cmd-X), and these documents are now empty. I want to identify and delete those empty documents.
Is there a search command that I could use to find them ?
thank you for your time and help ?
You can accomplish this by using Project Search to locate all documents with any text in them, and then invert the results to only show those document without text in them:
- Open Project Search, and search for an asterisk. This is shorthand for “find everything”, and by itself it will do just that, probably returning everything in your binder.
- Click the magnifying glass icon to the left of the search term, and set it to only search for “Text” at the top.
- Click the icon again, and this time select “Invert Results”.
By itself, those two settings may produce too broad of a list. That will include every folder that doesn’t have text in it, and research items as well. So to help with that, you could use the setting that constrains the search to the Draft folder only, or the binder selection.
