How to search for PDF files in Scrivener?

I’m in the process of cleaning up a large folder in my Scrivener project that contains both text, images and PDF’s. (I added the images and PDF’s years ago, before I learned that this was a bad idea. I now use links!)

I understand that the Find By Formatting tool allows me to search for Images, but not PDF’s.

I also understand that PDF’s that were dragged into Scrivener create a file with a PDF icon that is easy to spot. But sometimes the PDF was dragged into a Scrivener text file, so it doesn’t have the PDF icon, and the Find By Formatting tool doesnt find it.

How can I quickly and easily find all these files?

If I remember rightly, when you drag a PDF into a document (not into the Binder), you actually create an image, not a PDF.

So Find by Formatting using Image should find them all. At least, I’ve retested it and it works for me…

You’ll have to find each one sequentially, of course, but the cmd-opt-shift-g shortcut for Find Next Formatting makes it relatively painless.
