Hi,
I am a Portuguese user of Scrivener. I am facing a problem. Altough my Mac is configured to Portuguese language and spelling check is working properly to the portuguese language I can’t configure the hyphenation to work with in portuguese, it is always picking up the english standarts. I would like to know how can I correct this and be able to come back to english as I also write often in english.
Best regards,
Orlando Figueiredo
Hi Orlando,
Unfortunately I don’t think there is a way to configure it. Scrivener uses the OS X text system, and just turns hyphenation on or off. At that point, OS X handles the hyphenation. Another user reported that it doesn’t work so well with other languages, too.
Is it the same in TextEdit? Try pasting some text into TextEdit and select Format > Allow Hyphenation. If that handles it correctly, then Scrivener should be able to and there must be some setting I’m missing; if not then I’m afraid it’s an OS X limitation.
Thanks and all the best,
Keith
Hi
Thanks for the answer.
I tried on TextEdit and all seems good. Besides that the hypheation on Pages and Mellel work good in portuguese.
I think the best is to hyphenate the formatted manuscript at Mellel after compile.
Keith, same big problem here (Italian, with Snow Leopard and Lion).
Hyphenation works well in TextEdit.
I think we should say to OS X which language to use.
I’m available for any test.
