I can't colour things that I want to colour. Text is black then changes to white

The colours change and I can’t work out how to make them stay one way. Here’s a video:

Unfortunately that Dropbox link seems to be private so I cannot access it to watch the video. To create a public link, Ctrl-click on the file in your Dropbox area of the Finder and select “Copy Dropbox Link”, then post the link here.

Very strange. This looks like a bug several people have reported which we have so far been unable to reproduce in which the text colour of the binder doesn’t appear as it should. In this case, it looks as though the text is changing to black when the binder does not have the focus, so that you cannot see it. I can’t reproduce it on my machine, though.

Could you please do the following?

  1. Go to Scrivener’s Preferences, and from the “Manage…” button at the bottom, choose “Save Preferences to File…”.

  2. Attach the file that is exported to your reply using the “Attachments” tab below the text entry area of the forum reply box (or make the file available to me via Dropbox).

  3. Let me know which version of macOS you are using.

This will let me test your Preferences on my machine to see if I can reproduce the problem. I assume this is in full screen mode with the binder hidden and sliding in - does the same happen when the binder is visible and not sliding in?

Great, thanks. Unfortunately I can’t reproduce the problem even with those settings, so there must be some other factor involved, too (and I’m on 10.13.4 the same as you).

Does this happen with all projects, or only one? Is this on your main monitor or are you using a secondary screen?

Scratch that, I have now reproduced it after all. It turns out that I had to quit and restart Scrivener to see the issue. I’ve fixed this bug for the next free update. Thanks for providing the preferences so that I could see the problem!
