Any possibility of Scrivener working with iCloud. At the moment I use Dropbox and have to manually drag my .zip files from Scrivener in and out on Dropbox and onto my desktop before opening them.
theres a whole ton of posts as to why this cant currently happen… scrivener files are more than your average file… they consist of a ton of separate files, iCloud syncing with a current scrivener file would cause iCloud to probably just go nuts, and the scrivener file to end up borked… but you’ll read a definite answer if you do a quick search on the forum…
Okay thanks. I’ll have a look
Also read the section in the manual (available under Help) called “Scrivener Everywhere”. It is possible to just have your working project on dropbox, though you have to be very careful to follow the guidelines in the manual. I do that for all of my projects, and have only once had an issue when I was impatiently rearranging my projects directory.
Indeed, Scrivener’s file format is currently incompatible with iCloud (“currently” as in iCloud would have to change in the future to support it, not in that Scrivener’s file format can be changed to support it). Also, iCloud is only available to Mac App Store customers, which is only a fraction of our customer base, so it wouldn’t be a good general syncing solution.
All the best,
Keith
