Images as Separators in S3?

In S2 I used to be able to use <$img:ImageName> in the Text Separator field, which would allow for image text separators to be generated during a compile. I’ve tried the same on S3, but it doesn’t seem to work. I’m using the Standard eBook Section Text Layout with the Separator Between Sections set to <$img:ImageName> (where ImageName is my standard image separator.) I double checked the name and even tried it in Section Layouts/Title Prefix where it DID generate image headers in the output. But the exact same placeholder text does not work if entered in the Separator Between Sections field.

According to the Manual on page 606, this should be possible to do.

“Custom: Anything entered into the adjacent text field will be placed be- tween the two items on its own line, using the paragraph attributes of the line preceding it with centre-alignment added.
– ImagePlaceholderTags(subsection15.6.5)canbeusedhere,providing a way of inserting custom separator graphics between sections.”

Is there a different way to have image based text separators in S3?

Hi,

Am I right in assuming that you are exporting to ePub 3 format or KF8/Mobi? If so, this is a bug. I’ve just reproduced it and fixed it for the next update, so thank you for bringing it to my attention. ePub 3 (and KF8) is in fact brand new to Scrivener 3–Scrivener 2 only supported ePub 2 (and ePub 2-based Mobi) files. So the ePub 3 is all brand new and done in a completely different way. If you use ePub 2 export, you should not see the bug (but ePub 3 produces much nicer ebooks, so it is worth waiting for the fix unless you are up against a deadline).

Thanks and all the best,
Keith

Felt like a bug. Glad you turned it around so quickly. Yes, ePub3 is great. For now, a simple search/replace using Sigil is an easy workaround.

The new S3 version is AMAZINGLY GOOD. Loving the new compiler features. Thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into this new version. It shows.

Thank you! Glad you’re liking it!
