Is it possible to block images from the forum RSS feed? Lately there’s been some fairly graphic porn spam coming through… and while that stuff gets moderated off the boards fairly quickly, the RSS feed goes out even faster.

I’m afraid not. I am trying to install some mods that will block the spam. I spent an hour installing one last night only to find that it clearly didn’t work this morning. These spamming scum really **** me off. This forum isn’t even indexed on Google, so their main aim - raising their internet rankings - is completely scuppered here anyway. I’m now going to have to spend another hour or so of development time trying to install another anti-spam mod. Grr.

An update on this. I have spent the past few hours updating the forums in an attempt to better protect it against the recent onslaught of spam. I have upgraded to PHPBB 3.0.5 (which improves the captcha), added a site-specific anti-bot question (anybody joining the forums should be able enter the right answer to, “Please enter the name of our writing software”) and does an extra bit of jiggery-pokery to try to prevent non-browser registrations. Whether it works or not, I’m sure it will only take a few hours to see. God I hate spammers - that’s a whole day of coding lost to this.

Indeed. I was showing the Scriv forum to a friend last night, and up popped unseemly lessons in anatomy. Now he wonders why I’m so devoted to this group.
