I use Firefox with an ad-blocker. If I import web pages into Scrivener I see the advertising. How can I manage it?
And what will be the best way, to save web pages? If the side admin changes his site the web page would be vanished. ?
I don’t remember ads being imported, when you import a web page.
If you’re concerned about it changing, either import it as text, or anything other than dynamic. That way it’ll be the same, whether online or offline. (You can also save an image of it.)
Importing as plain-text or as HTML will only import the text, so if it’s mostly graphics that you’re concerned about, that would be an easy method to avoid them. You can also go into Tools > Options and check “Convert HTML files to text” in the Import/Export pane, which will, as the name suggests, convert webpages imported as HTML into editable text. You could then manually delete any ads that were still included.
I´m not sure if I import a page, is it served as for example in Springpad, so I could see it unless it vanished in the web? Or is it only a cross reference?
You have several choices for how to import webpages which are presented in a pop-up menu when you choose File > Import > Webpage. If you import via drag and drop, it will always use the default setting, which you can choose in the Import/Export tab of Tools > Options. So long as you select any option other than “Dynamic”, a copy of the page is imported into your project, so even if it disappears from the internet, you’ll still have that static version in your project. The “Dynamic” option simply brings in a link and uses the Scrivener editor as a browser window to view the page; it requires an internet connection to load the page and is at the mercy of the the server hosting the file, so if the url is changed or the host server goes down, you won’t be able to access it (just like if you attempted to follow the link exactly in your regular browser). If the page is updated, you’ll see the updated page rather than whatever it was when you first brought it into your project.
