Is it possible to import word 2008 files? My scrivener doesn’t offer the option. The help menu says that it should be able to export in docx format, but I can’t do that either. It would be very convenient to be able to import these docx files I want to work with without having to make copies of all of them in other formats. I’ve got the latest update on scrivener so it shouldn’t be an issue with a missing update.
Hi,
You should just be able to drag your .docx files directly into the binder, or go through File > Import > Files… What is going wrong when you try?
Best,
Keith
Are you still running Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) by any chance?
Ah, that is a good point - .docx import and export is only supported on Leopard and above.
Best,
Keith
Keith, I’m running Tiger, too, and (in spite of my question about highlighting), I’ve never had a problem just copying and pasting stuff to and from Word. I grant you, I’m using Word 2004, and it’s also a pain in the neck to do this with large files, but it does work. Perhaps that would solve the original poster’s problem?
Hi,
Yes, if she is on Tiger, she could copy and paste, or save from Word 2008 as .doc rather than .docx (or, even better, RTF) and things will import fine in that format.
Best,
Keith
Ah, yes, in fact I am running Tiger. Lately I am hitting a wall with my computer’s compatibility; sigh. Thanks for your answers.
