IndexCards

I have imported files that I wrote on my Ipad using Index Card. However, when I try to open them in Cork Board or Outline mode, I find that what I wrote on Index Card on the card itself, not on the synopsis section, is being cut off. Anyone have a solution to this? ljs2

The title and synopsis in Index Card should directly correspond with the same in Scrivener. What do you mean by the content being on the card, but not the synopsis? The only other field on the card itself (as seen on the corkboard in Scrivener) is the title field.

Amber,
Thanks for your reply. When I use index cards on my Ipad 2, there are two sections. One, a small white section/card in the upper left hand corner, says “Title” and below it “synopsis.” Below this is a larger yellow card which has as heading “long text.” When I import my index card files into Scrivener, what I have written in the white section appears, but what I have written on the yellow card is missing.

Okay, the Long Text field in Index Card corresponds with the main text editor content in Scrivener. This is where you would, if you were so inclined, write text meant for the underlying manuscript that the cards represent. So if you’re viewing the imported cards on a Corkboard alone, then you will not see the Long Text information that you typed into your iPad. You should however see that the icons for these cards (beside the title) show a printed page of text, rather than an index card or a blank sheet of paper. This indicates the the card you are looking at has main text content. Double-click on the card’s icon to load it in the editor, or just click directly on it in the Binder to view it.

So if I understand everything correctly, what you are describing is the intended result. Nothing you type into the Long Text field will appear on the corkboard when you import. That is purely for the Synopsis and Title information.

Now if you definitely do not have Long Text info in the import, ensure that when you do import the .indexcard file that you have the “Include main text and notes” checkbox enabled in the sync panel.

Amber,
Thanks for the clarification. Very helpful. ljs2
