Install template

I’m trying to install a downloaded Scrivener template; the template has the extension .scrtpl
Here’s what happened:

  1. I placed this template in the folder C:\Users\Vanessa\AppData\Local\Scrivener\ProjectTemplates, it did not show up in Scrivener.

  2. I created a new Template in Scrivener, then searched for the template file. It was saved in the same folder C:\Users\Vanessa\AppData\Local\Scrivener\ProjectTemplates, but with an extension .scrivtemplate

  3. I renamed the downloaded template, replacing the .scrtpl extension with .scrivtemplate

  4. I closed Scrivener and opened it again, then clicked on the menu item File–>Create. The new template did not appear, although the template I created in #2 is showing, and both are in the same folder and have the same file extension.

Is it possible to install Scrivener templates for Mac to the windows Scrivener? If so, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks
Vanessa

I think the template side of Scrivener isn’t completely wired up yet in the beta so that might be what’s going with this. I think Lee mentioned somewhere that templates were kinda missed on the getting things out for this initial beta.

If the .scrtpl extension is for a Mac template, I would guess that it will not work for the Windows version.

As for templates generally, for me, placing the template into the \ProjectTemplates folder did not work. I opened the .scrivx file with Scrivener (either by double-clicking the actual file, or by opening Scrivener and then clicking File > Open), then chose File > Save as Template.

Note: this previously did not work either, but now does with the version of the Scrivener executable made available by Lee on the 27th I think.

Thanks for this.
