Hi,
I agree with this: it would be great to be able to integrate Antidote with Scrivener. Actually I’m on the trial version, but this is definitely one of the biggest point that makes me hesitate to buy the full version or not.
Antidote is used by a lot of French writers to correct their text. French language has a tricky spelling and the typical spell checker, such as the one included by default in Scrivener, is by far not powerful enough to guarantee an acceptable spelling. Antidote is way better at this because it somehow takes the context of the word into account. Let me give you an example:
All the words of the above sentence are perfectly correct and if you pronounce it, it sounds right. The French spell checker of Scrivener is not underlying anything. However, the sentence is wrong, it should be written like this:
The pronunciation is exactly the same, but the verb is spelled differently.
This is beyond the capacity of the Scrivener spell checker, but would be immediately detected by Antidote.
By letting the authors use it directly in Scrivener, you will save them the additional step of exporting their text to Word or another Antidote friendly tool in order to correct it.
I have to add this complaint too. I’m writing my thesis using Scrivener, but the fact that there’s neither Zotero (for the bibliographic references) or Antidote integration is making me want to switch back to Word. And I really, really don’t want to switch back to Word.
Please find a way to integrate Antidote. You’ll be making all of your francophone clients happy on top of making Scrivener a lot more appealing to the French market!
