Is there a nice, intuitive way to type accent marks in Scrivener? (spanish ones in particular)
I’ve seen in a previous post that you can add them as a symbol via menus, or use the generic ALT+[random string of unmemorisable digits] method
But i’d love to be able to use control + dash followed by letter, which I use in Word, and is brilliantly memorable and quick. Or some similarly sensible way.
I’m on Windows 7 starter, and it is indeed possible to set the keyboard up as, for eg, ‘Spain, International Sort’. This gives me dead keys and easy accents. But unfortunately it also makes many of the punctuation marks in the wrong place… (I’m in the UK, and keyboard layout is different here as compared to Spain)
I guess I could just gradually memorise where punctuation marks really are with keyboard set up in this way… but not ideal.
Is there a way of customising things so I have these dead keys, without switching the whole keyboard to International layout?
I believe there’s also a UK Extended layout packaged with Windows, though I’m on my Mac just now so I can’t verify the name. (I guess Google could and I’m just being lazy since you already found something that works for you… ) You can also switch between layouts easily with the shortcut, so if you don’t need the accents for some documents, just flip back to your usual layout.
