iPad or iPad Mini for writing?

Young Dan,
It’s so refreshing to experience the occasional positive result, as a consequence of reputable crew members engaging with the… err… how best to phrase this in such a way, as to retain a positive slant on things… err, the lower deck element.
Here’s to many more

Heartened Vic-k

I am pleased you managed to decide what was best for you. The reason I posted the heads up on the release was because it was done unlike any other release, quietly, one moment not there and the next available to order.

Dan,

you do want a BT keyboard, for long writing sessions. For light work, use it as a tablet. Tablets are nice.

Here’s a guy who pushed a lot the concept of productivity on iPad mini on his first impressions on the new mini retina

marcoiac,

What is a BT keyboard? Enquiring minds want to know.

Regards,

Dan.

ah, sorry, I thought the context would make it clear! Bluetooth keyboard! If Clam Case makes it for the new iPad Mini retina, I’d go for it. Not only it’s a great keyboard that ‘reminds your fingers’ of your Mac, but you have no idea how many people asked me about it while I am around and using it, telling me how great it looks. People using the Logitech keyboards came to me, to tell me how much they liked my keyboard. 'nuff said!

marcoiac,

My apologies… It’s been a long day. Yes, I should have realized that.

Regarding BT Keyboards, I agree. I love them. OTOH, I also love my mechanical keyboards. I have a Logitech BT which is light and portable, but the touch is not the greatest.

Based on feedback here, I see three wireless mechanical options…

The first is a plug-in, wired Filco TenKeyless keyboards into the iPad camera adapter. About $200 from several vendors.

The second is the Filco Majestouch Minila Air 67 Key BT with Windows layout. Uses Cherry Brown switches:

ebay.com/itm/FILCO-Majestouc … 0912775151 (Hong Kong - $203.98 USD)

The third is a Matias Laptop Pro: matias.ca/laptoppro/mac/ (US - $180 incl shippng) It’s laid out for Mac and iOS, but it use Alps keys. I’ve heard that Alps keys are good, but don’t have the feel of Cherry switches. No direct experience though.

One concern about the Filco Majestouch Minila and Matias keyboards is the layout. I love the layout of the Filco TenKeyless and I’m not sure how well I would adapt to the “scrunched” layouts of the others. Pics below for comparison.

Decisions, decisions…

Regards,

Dan.

I have a KBTalkingPro wireless for the iPad, and it also allows me to switch over to my Mac when I desire.

I happen to be addicted to mechanical keyboards and I can’t imagine not using one when I’m writing.
