iPhone Note Apps Reviewed

There’s a detailed review of four major note taking apps for the iPhone, Simplenote, Elements, PlainText, and Nebulous Notes, at:

For those in a hurry, here are the conclusions:

I’ve tried every one of them but Elements and feel much the same. PlainText is beautiful and uncomplicated. Nebulous is weird. I also like the (unmentioned) TaskPaper’s formatting for taking down ideas.

Like him, I find Elements Markdown preview appealing, but I’m not sure how it would work in practice, since I’ve just begun to dabble with Markdown to replace my own esoteric markup code (i.e. «this is italics»). And I’ve toyed with the idea of seeing if Keith has considered adding a Markdown preview mode to Scrivener.

Since posting the above, I’ve discovered another useful review that focuses on PlainText, Elements and Nebulous Notes.
