Is it possible to have the Binder titles appear as Doc title

I often jot down a list of topics under a folder in the binder. Is there any way to have these automatically appear as the title in the top line of the document. I’ve been double clicking each title, then dragging it over, which is getting tedious. If I drag the item itself over, it creates a link.

Can I ask why you want these to appear in the actual document as a title? It might sound an odd question, but bear in mind that the title already appears in the header view above the document, and when you go to Compile or print you can choose to get the title added above the document automatically. So, I’m not sure why you would ever want the title in the text area given that it can get added in when you print or export…

(To answer your question, though, you can select an item in the binder and hit cmd-C - copy - and then paste into the document to paste the title.)

Hope that helps.

Thanks for challenging the premise. After reconsidering, I still want this feature. Sometimes I want to combine my quick “dumps” into a list in the text, then work on it some more. Most of the time, I want it to serve as a subhead of an article. I often find myself dumping the list into the text, then separating them into separate docs with the “break with selection” option. But often I want to go the other way.

Then you definitely need to use the copy-paste feature. If you want a list, just select several items in the binder, hit cmd-C, and then place the cursor in the text and hit cmd-V - voila, a list of titles!
Hope that helps.

Yes, it helps a lot. I have been doing it one at a time from the edit mode of the binder (by double clicking). Didn’t think of selecting all and copy/pasting. Dragging one or several inserts links. Copy/pasting inserts the text. A useful feature and distinction that was very clever, if it wasn’t accidental.

Makes me wonder if there is a list if tips, tricks and suggestions that I can find in one place that doesn’t require a major reading of the forum? It would sure be useful. This program has an amazing ability to mimic my thought processes, or adapt to them, and I bet there is a whole lot I’m missing.

BTW, I’m a beta tester for MacSpeech Dictate, and I have several tricks (including one that only the beta testers seem to know about, that isn’t confidential) that can make the difference between it working and not working. It has tripled my productivity, and greatly increased the quality of my writing, since I have always been striving to make my writing more conversational and dictating helps a lot, if it can be mastered.

Scrivener + Dictate is THE best thing that ever happened to authors, but most don’t know it.

I am thinking of trying to put a Wiki together sometime after the next update so that users can share tips and tricks in place that will be easier to search than the forum.
All the best,
Keith

Keith,
THis would be real nice.

But consider who might do some of the editing. Have you considered what would happen if Le’D started updating entries?
