What version of Scrivener? On what version of what platform?
Have you tried opening a support ticket?
The short answer is no, we aren’t seeing a pattern of that behavior. But without more information it’s impossible to even begin to comment on your situation.
I’ve contacted them twice, and been told basically that the it opens whatever random Scrivnerer project it wants to insterad of the last one was a known issue, and that I simply wasn’t understanding how to change things. Except it used to work. now every heading, every change in text class has to be done, pick the font, pick the size, pick any effects. Instead of being able to choose Header 1 And get it right. No ,atter how many times you change it in the options.
I adore most things abut Scrivener but the fact it is a nightmare to use formatting of text on a text based program, is getting worse.
But I have to say my experiance with support was underwhelming. Amounted to. “It works we promise. Do it right.”
Which was not at all helpful.
Also, “It’s a known problem” for a long standing problem with zero further information is again, not at all helpful.
I am guessing you don’t have different sets of projects on each computer. So… how do you handle moving a project from a computer to another?
Thumbdrive or sync or … ? (I bet your issue is related to this.)
Else, support is very efficient. They know the app inside out and most likely understood your issue. Perhaps you didn’t understand their explanations. (?)
There is no way I or anyone could tell. Or further help. You give no detail whatsoever.
If they (support) told you “It is a known issue” (which is pretty transparent), surely they proposed a way around it.
And as of your second issue, if they told you that it works, when they just openly told you that the other one doesn’t, how can you not trust them, and not rather question your understanding and/or application of what they said to be the proper way to go about it?
. . . . . . . .
If you don’t detail your issue(s) as to be understandable, as clearly as possible, and rather just ask if others have wonky issues too, that’s a rant.
If you want help, if you want things to work, take the time to write a post with as much details as possible. Leave nothing out.
So, you admit that you were ranting.
Ok. Vent, what can I say.
Meanwhile, without clear details about your issue, you’ll get no help. Even those willing to help can’t anyways. → No details, nothing to help about.
Windows 11 The most up to date version of Scrivener.
The formatting section of the options menu, does not seem to work at all. I set all the headers etc the way I want them. Tell it to save them. And, boom they are all back to defaults instantly.
I have read multiple texts, follow them exactly, and nothing lets me preserve the changes I make to Styles.
Yes. And it USED to work. but several months ago, it stopped. Same time t started to just open random projects I hadn’t touched in a year rather than the last project I opened and closed.
Nope. I’ve written 5 books on this program before this issue started. NEVER had any problems. I’m quite computer comfortable. Had a computer in my home since the TRS-80 Model One came out. Ran a BBS in the 80s.
I have probably sold 100 copies of your software for you by raving about it in the past.
That is why I found it so frustrating to basically get blown off by support.
I’m out. (Your first and foremost issue is your communication skills.)
This is circumvolutional. There is nothing anyone can do to help based on this.
You are saying you didn’t have the issue before you had the issue.
For your information, this is the users’ forum. I’m just a user.
That would be a first.

As a last minimalistic attempt at helping you, I will tell you this:
This quote of yours is wrong in many ways.
Figure out what’s wrong with it, you’ll be better off on some of your current issues.
(Personally, I am starting to doubt you even ever used the app.)
