By default, the Main Text setting and body text is indented.
And when I use number or bullets on some text, I can use enter twice to “exit” the numbering or bullets.
However, the indent is removed for me in the normal or usual text.
Is there a setting to ensure that the default text setting is the “body” preset, even after I “exit” the numbering or bulleting, automatically by default?

Unfortunately this is just how Apple’s list generator works. If you try doing the same thing in TextEdit, you’ll see it outputs the same way there as well. The problem is, the Apple text system doesn’t have any notion whatsoever of “body text”. It’s 100%, purely appearance only. The bullet formatting is applied manually and in place. If you change the indent for one bullet line, none of the others change. So it has no “what should I return to” value stored anywhere. What you were typing in before isn’t tagged as normal or body text, it’s just text that happens to look like the settings you picked for default.
