Is there a way to see labels in the binder?

I’ve used my labels to deonate which POV a scene is in, and I’m just wondering if there’s a way to show the label in the binder so I can see easily the POV for a scene without having to open it or open the whole manuscript in the outliner.

View>Use Label Color In and check Binder.

You may then want to adjust your label colors.

Thanks! I actually managed to work it out (by accident - I hadn’t thought of looking in the View menu for some reason) quite soon after I posted this, but my internet went down so I couldn’t edit this till now.

I see what you mean about perhaps wanting to edit the colours though. They are rather, um, vibrant…

An alternative, less 1960’s look can be had by using the “Icons” option from that same menu. It just shades the icon instead of the whole row. I prefer that look for projects which tend to have all or most items labelled. Row labelling is nice for projects where labels are special use, like “Urgent”. Then a big bright bar is incredibly handy. Of course, that’s all up to taste. Some people like the explosive look. But for me, I prefer using one or the other rather than trying to settle the score by making labels subtle, since tinting is used in other areas as well. Corkboard marks/pins for instance, can get to the point where it is hard to see which is what colour, if you optimise for the binder row, unless they are all very different.

Oh, that’s much better, thanks! I tried ticking all the different options and poking about to see what they meant but couldn’t figure out what icons was. Obviously I hadn’t noticed them being coloured due to the whacking great bars of colour in the titles.

Yeah, I need to have my labels particular colours because I’ve associated them with certain characters in my head now, so changing them would just mess with me…so having the icon shaded is definitely less distracting than a huge red/green/etc bar across the side.

One slightly weird thing though is that the icon shading for blue looks more purple (which is really obvious on the corkboard as I still have the corner label marks), but I can live with that, as I’m not using purple for any character.

Cheers!
