Isn't it ironic?

Occasionally, and for no very good reason, I get angry all over again at that Mercedes Benz advert that was ubiquitous a couple of years ago, you know the one: the one which used Janis Joplin’s, “Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedez Benz”. To me at the time it was the epitome of pure evil in the world: use a dead woman’s tirade against consumerism and its icons to advertise one of those very icons.

Around the same time, there was advert that used Lenin to sell the Financial Times.

“Isn’t it ironic?” asked Alannis Morissette. Well, no, not in the case of any of her lyrics (something about getting married in the pouring rain - no, that’s just bad luck, Alannis).

Still, one good thing came out of it all. I came across this rather amusing comment upon the ad:

flamingbanjo.com/blog/archives/000080.html

Which directed me to the following CNN headline:

cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/ … index.html

That had me in hysterics.

Best,
Keith

Keith,

Tripping down memory lane with The Police:

“Don’t Stand So Close To Me”

Licensed to a Deodorant Company till the band intervened.

I can’t… I really can’t read any more…

In my opinion 12 percent of Americans have no opinion. Who said Journalists don’t have fun?
