# Issue with bold & italics again

Hi, I’m on Scapple for MacOS. Haven’t used it for a week or two and just come back to do some work to find that I cannot make text within notes bold or italicised - it doesn’t work by any method. I’ve never had an issue with this before. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling to ensure I’ve got the most up to date version etc and it’s just not working. Any fixes available?

Have a look at this older [bug report](https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/cant-set-text-to-bold-or-italic/125330) and see if any of the troubleshooting helps you. As far as I’m aware those issues were all fixed, but many of the same questions would apply.

Otherwise, the basic thing to check is whether the font you are using for your board even has italics or bold available to it.
