Issues compiling and exporting

Hello all,

I recently finished writing a paper in scrivener and when I compiled and exported it to Word, all of the text had been compressed down to 1.0 spacing and all my footnotes were moved to the main body of text. What’s more, random (so far as I can tell) sections of text were moved from above footnoted sections to below. I’m not even talking about whole sentences…sometimes it was 3 words, sometimes half a line of text. When I went back to scrivener to check what had gone wrong, I could no longer compile and export documents to docx. doc. pdf. or rtf. I didn’t change anything in my compile settings so I have no idea how this could have happened. I exported a different paper the day before with no problems at all.

Have any of you had issues like this? I am running OS X 10.10.2 on a macbook pro and have Scrivener 2.6 which I think is the most recent update.

Just to clarify, you compiled and then exported? (these are two different operations). Which one produced the result you did not expect?

When you click on the compile button or File/compile, and choose docx, the next command (provided all of the options are as you would like them) is to export. When you click export, it asks you to name the file and choose a location to save it. What I didn’t expect was that the file doesn’t save as a word document, but just says exporting indefinitely. To boil it down I can’t change my projects to different file formats for print or submission.

I wasn’t talking about exporting from the file menu.

Any idea as to why?
