I’ve been using the beta and now RC version of Windows for about 6 months now and I never had this issue.
What happens is that the images disappear from the Scrivener user interface and, consequently, they do not compile to a Word document, for instance.
I have uploaded a video so that it’s graphically and visually explained. I created an empty project, added a folder and a text document. added text to the document as well as images.
Saved document, closed scrivener and reopened it, and the images are gone. If I open the RTF files within the project file structure, the images are there, so they’re not being deleted, instead only blank spaces are shown.
Thank you for the report and the video! Despite the clear walk-through, I haven’t been able yet to reproduce this problem, but I would certainly like to get to the bottom of it. A few questions:
I see that you can reproduce this with a new project, but I noticed that you’re saving to a Cloud-sync location. If you save just to your local Documents folder, for instance, or the Desktop, does the same thing happen?
If you skip the compile step–just create the project, add text and images, and then close and reopen the project–are the images still missing when the project reopens? If not, and the compile step is necessary for reproducing the issue, could you please share the compile preset you’re using? You can do this by selecting it in the compile window and then selecting “Export Formats…” from the gear menu at the bottom. (Since this is one of your global saved formats, it’s not included in the project that you attached previously.)
Does this happen with all images you try? Has it occurred only with newly added images, or did this first happen in an older project with existing images that were missing when first opened in RC3? Does it happen if you do not use Scrivenings mode?
