Help?
I downloaded the Beta that expired on Jan 31 and would like to start testing the newest one. The only problem is the older version refuses to uninstall! I tried running the uninstaller from the control panel and it won’t open a window. I even opened the folder it’s in and manually clicked the uninstaller, gave it permission, and…Nothing. My task manager claims the uninstall process is running, but nothing is happening.
The Beta post says you need to uninstall the previous Beta, but I can’t. Anybody know what to do?
I had this problem when my production version of Scrivener was running during the uninstall attempt. As I recall, the uninstall displayed a “close Scrivener first” prompt that was hidden beneath other windows on the screen. Disconcerting, as I wanted to be sure the correct Scrivener would be removed, but I did quit v.1.9.7.0 when I noticed the prompt, and then easily uninstalled v. 2.9.0.3. (No point in my beta testing until HTML docs can be displayed in the panes. We’ll try again in April. )
Check the Task Manager to be sure Scrivener isn’t running before you launch the uninstaller–if you see any Scrivener processes there, use “End Task” on them first. You could also try rebooting to clear things out. Do you have any sort of app cleaners, registry cleaners, installer/uninstaller helpers, etc, running? What version of Windows are you on?
Try rebooting the computer and then uninstalling. If that does not work, try to reinstall that version and then uninstall it. Its possible that one or more files is corrupted.
