Just Purchased but can't "open" scrivner

I have purchased Scrivner and put the icon into my applications folder. When I double click on the icon the program does not open up. It just gives me the brief information regarding the type of application it is. What am I doing wrong?

That’s just Apple’s standard dialogue box. Did you then click on “Open” and not “Cancel”? When you did that, did the menu bar open at the top of the screen (no window opens until you create a project)? Do you have Tiger (10.4) or Leopard (10.5)?
