Label colors in outline view - Dark synopsis font not visible against dark label colors

OSX 10.11.6
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
8GB memory
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

Scrivener v2.8 (26295)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Under View menu, select View->Use Label Color In->Outliner Rows

  2. Set a dark label color, say black, for a row that has no synopsis text. This is the correct behavior: The row/card title is automatically given a light color so it is visible against the dark label color.

  3. Select the row/card with dark label color and enter some text into the synopsis field. Incorrect behavior: Now, when deselecting the row, the title text and synopsis text are no longer visible against the dark label color because the text color has reverted to black and/or gray.

I am using the label colors to help track multiple POVs in outline view, but the inability to see the title/synopsis using darker labels is a problem. Using lighter colors is fine, of course, but with several POVs, darker colors are definitely necessary.

Thanks for your time.

Can someone confirm that they see the same issue? Or are colored labels just not used often?

Do you mean that you expect Scrivener to automatically overide your choice of text color? Does the manual say that it should?

You choose the synopsis colour in the Preferences, and that colour is always used. So if you intend to use extremely dark labels, you will need to choose a synopsis colour that works with them too.

All the best,
Keith

Part of what the OP is reporting is that the title text gets initially inverted against the dark color (in Outline view), but once some synopsis text is entered, the title text goes back to black (and so, illegible). This does sound like unintended behavior.

Yes, what gr said is correct. The title is visible when there is no synopsis text but there is a dark label color. As soon as some synopsis text is entered, the title is no longer visible.
