Legacy Names and Updating Scrivener

Hi there,
Would it be possible to add an option in the installation process to not overwrite the legacy names folders? Several of the files in there are empty and if I enter real names into the files they are written over when I update.

Loving v3 on both Windows and Mac.

Sorry, but could you be a bit more specific?

Are you referring to the default installation folders, e.g., the folders within C:\Program Files\Scrivener3?

Or are you saying the Scrivener installation process is changing your project folders, which presumably are not stored within Program Files?

Or, it just occurred to me, are you referring to the name generator?

Also, your post says “not to overwrite legacy names folders” but also seems to imply files are getting written over. Please clarify.

Hi Jim,

My apologies for my lack of clarity - yes I’m referring to the name generator.
The files in C:\Program Files\Scrivener3\resources\toolbox\namestool\legacy are replaced every time there is an installation process (such as for a new version) so any modifications to the files are lost.

It’s not a big issue - I keep a zip file of all the ones I have amended and just copy them back in, but I’m guessing I’m not the only person with that issue.

I hope that’s a bit clearer.

All the best.
