[LH2306] Format From Copied Internet Text [Bug]

When I copied a paragraph from the Internet it did not automatically format to my default text style. After highlighting the imported copied text and selecting the proper style, the text changed except for the size. No matter what I tried in changing text size it always stayed as “-1”.

Then I tried this:

  1. Highlighted the imported copied text in Scrivener
  2. Paste the text into Word
  3. Highlighted the Word text
  4. Paste it back into Scrivener document
  5. Successfully updated style.

What I expected when I paste text from outside of Scrivener:

  1. Convert to the default text style setup in Scrivener.
  2. Style applied should change including text size.

Try Edit -> Paste and Match Style or Ctrl + Shift + V

Hello! This is a bug that occurs with certain browsers, hence why using an intermediary is fixing the situation for you. Please let me know which browser you are using to copy and paste from so I can update the ticket for this bug.

I went back and did comparisons. The problem stems from paste (CTRL-V) using “Google Chrome” browser.

“Match Style” works, but should not be relied upon as the norm. ( thanks krastev)

Glad to help

On my system, I have switched the shortcuts.
Ctrl+V — do Paste and Match Style
Ctrl+Shift+V — do Paste

In most cases I need the clean text and not it’s format. In the rear instances when I need the text formated I just add Shit to the combo. It works for me.

Feeling Freudian krastev?

Not sure what you mean by that, but OK.
