[LH4062] "Use the Insert key to control overtype mode" option doesn't work

Check it on or check it off, overtype mode stays off regardless.

Confirmed here.

This has been fixed and will be available in the next release.

I just posted on a related post that the insert key does indeed toggle overtype mode now (2.9.0.25) but the pendulum swung a bit too far: now Scrivener opens always with overtype mode on initially, which is the reverse of what the vast majority of users (I’m pretty sure) would expect as the default. Worse, no matter what I do, I can’t change this so that next time it opens with insert mode on as its initial state.

This Overtype mode issue is already discussed in detail in this thread: https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/beta-25-editing-to-add-any-character-word-in-editor-overwrites-succeeding-characters-words/47452/1

The behavior will be adjusted further in the next update.

Yup, fixed, thanks.

And now for the appeal to Santa. I can find no indicator to tell me which mode, insert or overtype, I’m currently in. Word changes the cursor AND clearly indicates in the status bar whether it’s in “Insert” or “Overtype”. Couldn’t Scrivener do similar? I’d be happy with just changing the cursor.
