Version: 2.9.0.39 Beta (838542) 64-bit - 17 Feb 2020
Observed on previous two betas as well. Bug was not noticed on last year’s versions, though.
Open project. This one has previously been saved with formatted spacing 1.0x 0.0/5.0 in a file.
Copy and paste from a document right back into that document with CTRL-V.
What should happen: Spacing should stay consistent.
What happens instead: Spacing changes to 1.0x 0.0/4.9
If I use CTRL-SHIFT-V, line spacing is not changed.
If I have line spacing of 1.0x 0.0/3.8 (for comparison testing), copy/pasting bug doesn’t seem to happen.
I format the entire document with 1.0x 0.0/5.0 spacing again, copy and paste with CTRL-V again and still it reverts to 4.9.
On further testing:
If I check Line Spacing options when I’ve chosen 1.0x 0.0/5.0, “After Paragraph” is set to 4.95.
I can repeatedly set it to /5.0, check that it’s set to /5.0 and yet each time I copy paste, the after paragraph reverts to 4.95 for any newly pasted text.
Ultimately I realized that each time I copy paste and then copy paste the same text again, the after paragraph line spacing is shrinking!
If I select all and adjust line spacing to 1,0x 0.0/5.0 for a full document, instead it sets it to /5.3. If I say /2.0, it makes it 2.3.
This must be such a nightmare to code, where there are cascading effects where one tweak in one place is able to mess things up that were previously fixed. You have my sympathies.
I saw something like this yesterday. Spacing after paragraph went from 1.0x 0.0/5.00 to 1.0x 0.0/4.48. I fiddled with it, but it wouldn’t change back to 5.00. It showed as a selection, but it wouldn’t take.
Today, when I re-opened the project, it was fine, and works as it should.
Edited to add: Control-N gives me a new text window with the modified 4.48 setting. When I go to F12 / Editing / Formatting to change it to 5.00, it won’t take there, either.
My default formatting is: 1.0x 0.0/6.0. If I copy/paste within the same document the pasted text changes formatting to 1.0x. This is really weird because the previous and existing formatting is the same, so even if it was doing match formatting paste it shouldn’t change?
If I copy/paste a multi-line selection, the FIRST line pastes as 1.0x plain; the others paste as what they were. Currently, I have line spacing set to “1.0x 1.0/3.0”. So pre-para leading disappears, and post-para leading disappears.
But only on the one line; the other lines copy as they’re supposed to.
