after dividing the window with ‹alt + click›, and also restoring it with ‹alt + click›, the possibility of removing multiple spaces with ‹ctrl + space› disappears; the corresponding menu command is then also passive.
Could you post the precise steps to reproduce this in a sample? I’ve tried a few variations of loading a document, alt-clicking another in the binder to load it in an editor split, and also using the icon button in the editor header to split the editor, but in all cases the Remove Spaces menu command and shortcut remain enabled. There’s probably a specific step I’m missing to trigger this.
If I understand what you’re saying, you don’t restore from split screen with another CTRL+click (that toggles between the split screen modes), just a regular click.
After you do that, however, the editor does not have focus, so the CTRL+SPACE command (keystroke or menu choice) will not work. Pressing CTRL+TAB doesn’t bring the editor back into focus either. You have to click inside the editor window and then it does work again.
Thanks, Michah! I see the issue now. Closing the split with the button toggle should be restoring focus into the remaining split and isn’t doing so properly. This has been logged.
Okay, here’s an interesting related thing on this: I’ve been trying to rely more on the keyboard shortcuts to split the window in my desired mode (horizontal) and also remove the split.
This morning after I split the window horizontally with the keyboard shortcut, and then later removed the split (also using the shortcut), the editor maintained focus (as it should), but I could no longer remove duplicate spaces using the CTRL+Space shortcut!
This has been fixed and will be available in the next update.
