Above is the screenplay formating when in scriptwritting mode in the beta. Below is proper format in a different software. All margins and indents have been double checked.
It appears as if the ruler/text are not scaled in relation to each other properly. And actually, the ruler’s scale, nor the text size don’t seem to scale any differently in non-scriptwriting mode either so maybe this is an issue across both modes?
After uninstalling the beta, there doesn’t seem to be the same issue in the released version while working on new documents in scriptwriting mode. Unfortunately, since there doesn’t seem to be a way to downgrade projects in windows (Pleeeease let me know if I’m wrong on this count.) I’ve lost all ability to work on all of my project unless I reinstall the Beta.
Also, worth noting that this issue persists with “Enable high DPI scaling” both checked and uncheck.
For what it’s worth, The rulers in all other applications seem to be scaled correctly on my monitor, but scrivener’s does not, That is, with zoom at 100%, 1 inch on all non-scrivener application rulers measures 1 inch screen distance checked with an actual ruler. In the beta, zoom again at 100%, 1 inch on scrivener’s on-screen ruler measure 0.75 inch against the physical ruler. This discrepancy persists in regular non-scriptwriting mode too.
They don’t. I’m not sure why this is, but I think it’s related to the choice of units. That is, the ruler wants those tick marks to be 1/8". Scrivener calls them 1/6", but they’re not. So when the ruler says one measurement, it’s another). You’d think this would be an easy fix, but evidently not (I would be okay with not using Picas as a unit of measure in writing).
All modes.
Best way I know to downgrade a project:
Reinstall the Beta.
Open the project.
Click on something in the binder.
Ctrl+A to select all.
Create a new project in version 1.9.x.
Drag and drop into that new project.
Save the new project and close it.
Repeat steps 2 thru 7 with all projects until done.
Or, reach out on the forum and see if a friendly owner of Scrivener 3.x for Mac will export your 3.x project as 2.x format for you. You can also do this yourself if you have a friend with a Mac or have access to a Mac at your school or library. (If you want to go this route, PM me; I’d be happy to help.)
