Hi guys, I purchased a new Mac today and I have installed Scrivener onto it. I have gone through my emails but I cannot find any note or record of my serial number which I had when I purchased Scrivener originally. I have also tried using the “Retrieve lost serial” option within the programme, but when I input my email address, the website I am taken to is coming back telling me there is no order history registered to my email address. I have also tried two other address just incase, but they are negative too.
My current install of Scrivener on my Macbook Air is registered and activated but there are no details from what I can see of what the serial is.
To ensure everything is above board, do I have to purchase a second licence to use Scrivener on this new Mac I have purchased? Can someone in tech support please advise.
Did you by any chance purchase from the Mac App Store? If so, you won’t have a serial number. Instead, your licensing is controlled by App Store functionality. If you purchased by that route, Scrivener will be listed in the “Purchases” section in the App Store if you log on with your usual AppleID. (If so, you will need to uninstall the trial version before the App Store will let you install the version for which you hold a licence.)
Failing that, please send an email to sales AT literatureandlatte DOT com with your full name and possible email addresses, together with any other information you have regarding your purchase, and we will try to find your licence after the Easter weekend and public holiday.
Yes as I recall when I originally purchased Scrivener through the App Store I had some initial problems getting it to work. I re-downloaded it from the App Store and installed it and it appears to be working fine. I presume updates will be handled through the Mac App Store? Hence why it doesn’t have any “Software update” options in the menu like my Macbook Air version?
Glad you’re up and running again. The App Store version doesn’t have “Registration…” or “Check for Updates…” options in the Scrivener menu, since these functions are handled by App Store functionality instead. So, in the App Store version, you would check for updates through the “Updates” section of the Mac App Store (you receive push notifications if an update is available), just as with any other application that you have purchased through the App Store.
