Line spacing greyed out in compile

Hi there,

When I use line spacing from the ruler to set 2.0, it only does it a paragraph at a time. When I try to set 2.0 line spacing in compile the setting is greyed out. Do I need to highlight all text in a project to change the line spacing? Or is there a way to do it at compile time, if I can get it to not be greyed out. I’m using Custom compile and Word .docx output.

thanks,

Alistair

I’ve noticed Project -> Text Preferences has no effect either on a pre-written project. None of the text changes and the only way to change the font is to override it in Compile. Is this just how it works? Do you have to set the text preferences before you create any text?

aha! I see how project text preferences work now but the required output format of Times New Roman 12pt is far too small to work with when writing so I set it to a larger size. However I can’t override this in the compiler as it’s greyed out. I can force a font override but not the size. Is there any way to write in one font/size and compile in another?

double aha! I see now. You have to Override text etc in Compile, then select each Section type in turn then click in the sample text to enable the font/size/spacing options. They’re all the same so an option to select all section types at once would be nice

Did you know about the Zoom command?

There’s a pair of arrows in the lower left corner of the editor window that lets you zoom the magnification up or down. Or you can use the View -> Zoom menu command.

I find that lets me write at a size that I can read without having to actually change the document font size.

To change the formatting in existing text (not in Compile), use the Edit -> Select All command to select the entire text of the document. The Documents -> Convert -> Convert Formatting to Default Text Style command is helpful too, assuming of course that the default is what you want.

Hadn’t seen that. That’s really handy! thanks
