Lines of Text Stretch and Shrink

Sorry if this is a duplicate question. I didn’t know how to search for it. Don’t know the terminology.

In most documents in my project, as I type, the words stay where I put them.

In one document, the words move as I edit them, causing the kerning to swell or shrink depending on whether I’m adding more words or deleting old ones.

I find it disconcerting. I’m sure I toggled on some feature in this one document. I’ve looked for hours and can’t find a way to put it back where it belongs. I don’t even know what to call it, so I don’t know how to fix it.

Love the program. I’ve written two novels on it so far, and I use it to organize my non-fiction work as well.

Sounds like you’ve got those documents fully justified, and the others, which don’t change, left justified.

Check the justification buttons in the format bar. You probably turned full justification on by accident with a keyboard shortcut — I don’t have Scriv open at the moment and don’t use it, so I don’t know what it is.

Yep! Thanks! Just needed the word!!! “justify.”

It’s under format>text>justify. I had to choose format>text>align left instead. Also I could have just clicked the left justify button on the toolbar!!!
