Link Specific Text from One Document to Another?

I use Scrivener in parallel with DevonThink (Mac only), which supports page links and line-by-line annotations to PDF files.

That’s interesting! Is there a way to open Scrivener documents in DevonThink so that links can be made as the story takes shape, or would I have to export the final story and then add all the links to references in DevonThink after the fact?

Nevermind me – I just figured out the Page, Selection and Annotation Link features in DevonThink. That’s pretty much exactly what I needed.

Thanks!

Multitasking is a thing! I have Scrivener and DT open side by side. It’s possible to put a Scrivener project inside a DT database, but I don’t bother. Instead, I use DT’s “Copy Page Link” command, and put the resulting link in a comment or Document Bookmark in Scrivener. Then on my final editing pass I go through and “fact check” all the linked statements, including putting the citation (which could be a named source, a web page, or a journal article) in its final form.

If I’m really rolling, I don’t even do that. Just put an annotation in Scrivener like (Jones2025), and use that to find the document in DT later.
