List indenting lost when compiling to Word

I now have another issue to do with numbered lists. Not sure if I should put my question here? Basically, (and I can send screenshots) when I compile to Word, the formatting of the numbered list is changing the indent on each new number so that the indents are no longer flush. It is fine in Scrivener but changing when Compile to Word. Can you help here please?

Screen shots showing the “invisible” tabs and ruler tab stops for both Scrivener editor and Word would be useful to help you.

how do i attch a screenshot?

Have you tried using RTF yet? This is also a native MS Word format, but one that Scrivener does not have to convert to, so it is considerably less complicated of a process (and thus less error prone).

I have no problems with indents in lists in general, including those that have been given an offset starting number (since this was originally posted to a thread about how to do that). But I’m checking in LibreOffice and Pages, not Word itself.

You should also indicate what software you are using to load the compiled file.

i want the indents! i just want them consistent…like they are in the scrivener doc. i am simply compiling from scrivener directly to word. like i have been doing for years…with books up to 700 pages. this has never happened before from what i recall.

how do i show you what i mean in two screenshots?

To make screen shots (easiest way for others to “see” your computer’s screen as we aren’t standing behind you):

In your reply post use the icon available at top of edit window to “upload” the two screen shot files.

Doing this will enable others to see where your tabs, tab stops, and ruler settings to then, if that is the issue (we have nothing else to go on) make recommendations on adjusting your compile settings, or simply tweak your Word docx file. If not the issue, then onward I guess. Whatever.

Also, this question surely has been previously discussed, so you might do some searching of this forum.

While screenshots can sometimes be helpful, the absolutely 100% most helpful thing you can provide is a live sample of the problem:

  1. A simple Scrivener project that contains a small demonstration, with its compile settings all configured to reproduce the problem.
  2. A copy of the .rtf file created by those settings.
  3. A copy of the .rtf file corrected by you, so we know what you actually want.

Provide that, and I could probably tell you want you need to know in a few minutes. Or, if the problem does not occur in RTF (I see no response to testing that?), then supply .docx.

If you must use live data to demonstrate it, because you don’t know how it got the way it is, then only copy and paste enough of what you need to show it, into a new blank project, and send it to technical support.
