Loading Preferences after a computer fail

I’m in the midst of a complete computer re-install after it crashed I’m trying to set up Scrivener as it was and transferred the Applications Support folder from my on-line backup to replace the newly installed one. When it comes to preferences, I’m not in a position to Save and Load Preferences so is it okay for me to simply transfer the two preference files in Library/Preferences from back-up or should I leave them alone and resign myself to resetting them? Anything else I’ve missed?

You could try this, but before you do, create duplicate copies of the two preference files before you use them. And if you’ve already used Scrivener since the reinstall, create duplicate copies of the existing (new) preferences files in case anything goes wrong.
