location specified after search

Again it could be possible that I ask for something that is already an option, beyond my grasp. But when I search for a document, and then find and choose it, and then get the binder back to normal, I can’t find the document marked in the binder. If the intention is to find where in the binder the document is hidden, I haven’t got it. It would be nice as it is in Spotlight,to get a string for the document, “location -> folder -> under folder -> document”. And/or that the document is marked in the binder, when binder goes back to normal.

Again, apologize if I ask for something that’s there.

Hi,

2.0 will do this for you automatically, but in the meantime what you can do is use Reveal in Binder instead of ending the search by clicking on the “X”. The shortcut for Reveal in Binder is opt-cmd-R, so just hit that and that will take you back to the binder with the current document selected.

Hope that helps.
All the best,
Keith

That option cmnd R was what I did look for. Thought it was there somewhere. There is much to learn, and not always easy to know where to look, at least not when english isn’t one’s native language. So thank you very much! And I look forward to the 2.00. My relation with Scrivener is today sealed with the ordering of the Scrivener Mug…

Don’t forget that under almost all mac applications, (including Scrivener), you can go to the Help menu enter a word in the Search box. The first items listed will be menu options, and if you down-arrow to them, it will show you where in the menu hierarchy that particular item is.

Obviously, you have to have some idea of what the menu item is named in order for this to be useful, but once you are more familiar with the menu, it makes finding things extremely easy.

This trick is also useful for activating menu items too. If you use something seldom enough that it doesn’t require a shortcut, but you still don’t want to use the mouse to get at it, you can search for it using the Help search, down-arrow, and then press Return to send the menu action.

Thanks for ordering the Scrivener mug! I have two myself, obviously.

Yes, I know, but sometimes it’s not easy to find the right word to search for. But I guess, as you say it’s easier along the way.

Yes, obviously, KB, you have two.

And obviously I overuse the word “obviously”.
