For some reason, I cannot successfully compile to PDF anymore. Additional problem is, Scrivener doesn’t emit any warning or error message, it seems to work properly but the created PDF is very small and can’t be opened.
My question is: Are there any command line parameters or the like to get Scrivener to write a log file so that I can look a bit deeper into what’s happening? Without any message at all it’s very hard to tell what’s going on. I looked for logs in every folder I could imagine, but without success.
Scrivener doesn’t currently create a log of the compile process. Have you tried changing the PDF converter? If you have Microsoft Office 2007+ installed, Scrivener has two options for the exporter, “Microsoft Office” (the default in 1.7.3) or “Scrivener”. You can switch which is used by going to Tools > Options… and clicking the Import/Export tab, then the “Export Converters…” button. Select “PDF” from the drop-down menu on the left. The right menu will then show the current converter, and you can switch it to the alternative. Click OK a few times to close out of there and options, then try the compile again.
Thank you very much, that did the trick. I still would like to have a log file, but for now, problem solved.
