Losing Scratchpad files

I too have lost ALL of my scratchpad notes. I do use dropbox, but cannot find where they have gone. What is the file name they are saved within on my computer? Oh, I found them: “Scrivener Scratch Pad Notes,” but why/how did these disappear within Scrivener? Scary. Please say this is rectified in S3.

I must add that it disappeared when I implemented iCloud, which now houses my documents. Could that have something to do with them disappearing?

I’ve split your note off to a new thread, as the one you responded to was three years old and many relevant aspects of both Scrivener and Mac OS have changed.

What do you mean by “disappeared?” Did they fail to appear when you launched the Scratchpad?

Scrivener will look for the Scratch Pad at the location specified in the Scrivener -> Preferences -> General tab. If you moved the folder – which iCloud does – it’s not surprising that Scrivener is unable to find it. Changing the setting to point to the new location should fix the problem.

Hi Katherine,
Thanks so much for your prompt response. Yes, iCloud changed the directory on me. I’ve since disabled desktop & documents (High Sierra’s new feature), and now I have all my notes back.
Whew!
