I’ve not worked on my project for a few months. I have a years worth of work. Today I opened and all of my work has gone. Nothing. Backups show nothing

Please provide some more information. Where is your project stored, locally or in a cloud service of sorts (and which one)? Same for the backups, and whether they are zipped or not.
First suggestion: Make sure your project is really completely available on your local computer and has not been moved partially to the cloud. What you’re seeing is a common symptom of some sort of partially downloaded project. In which case, nothing is lost, it’s just not where it should be.
