Hi - thanks for number 2. I seem to have lost the ability to insert citations from Endnote X4 into Scrivener via keyboard shortcut. I have connected Scrivener to Endnote in the Scrivener preferences and I have checked the keyboard shortcuts (both for Scrivener and for the system) in the System Preferences. Yet there is simply no reaction to the keyboard shortcut. Am I missing something else?
Many thanks,
thanks - command-Y only brings your bibliography software to the front, but does not actually insert the citation, so you need to drag the citation. The default command for ‘insert citation’ seems to be command-E, but that is not working. I have tried assigning a new command and returning to command-E, but to no avail. This has always worked before.
Any suggestions more than welcome.
I’m a bit confused now. Scrivener doesn’t even have an “Insert Citation” command. Is this perhaps a Service being provided by your citation manager? If so, you might want to change that shortcut in keyboard preferences, because Cmd-E is a nominal standard application shortcut in the Mac OS for “Use selection in find”. It’s a way of selecting some text and piping it to the Find dialogue box so you can find other instances of that text. Lots of programs use this shortcut.
Thanks Amber - sorry, I mistyped. ctrl-E is the universal OS ‘insert citation’ command that is listed in my keyboard preferences and which I in my keyboard preferences also assigned to Scrivener. I have, however, found a way to make it work again: activate it in the services menu (which weirdly still had my old command assigned to it.) Now works perfectly again. Thanks for your help.
You’re welcome! Ctrl-E is a bit of an odd one too, though, as that is mapped to snapping the cursor to the end of the paragraph in most Cocoa views. Ah well, whatever works.
