[Mac] OPML Import options

Onno and I have been having a discussion about getting outliner and mind map content into Scrivener. (See [url]https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/annotations/7327/8]) We agree that OPML is an excellent transfer format, but Scrivener’s current import routines have problems for us.

The problem is this: Scrivener assumes that the topic itself is only a title, that will be expanded on in the topic notes. Onno’s outliner has no note capability. I don’t choose to use notes, preferring to shove all my comments into the topics themselves so I need not open a notes window to view them. Net result is that each of us has long paragraphs in our topics, and no notes whatsoever.

How about a “no notes” option for OPML import? I envision this as working just like Scapple import, with the entire “title” copied to the main text. (And the synopsis as well if you just reuse Scapple import code.) I’ve already tried using Scapple as an intermediary, and the results are quite acceptable except that, of course, all the hierarchy information is lost.

Or whatever way you’d like to work it! Another option is to allow the title to be copied to main text or synopsis along with any notes that are present. Whatever works easiest and you think would be the cleanest UI.

What say you?

Bump.

I had previously asked for some changes for OPML import: https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/wish-improved-opml-import/37443/1 – and I got a reply after many months, so don’t give up hope

I haven’t given up hope—tho I certainly can understand if this is a low-priority item! Still, I’d appreciate a word from L&L staff, even if it’s “no”.
