Mac OS Finder labeling Scrivener Docs "terminal document"?

Two of my Scrivener projects are now referred to as “terminal document” under “kind” in the Mac OS finder. ???

Spinning Beach Ball from hell when try to open it with Scrivener (when I drag it onto Scrivener app icon).

Something bad has happened. Either the projects themselves are damaged, or something has broken Mac OS’s ability to recognize the .scriv extension as “belonging” to Scrivener.

I would recommend (1) confirming that Scrivener itself is working correctly, using test data; and (2) restoring these projects from their most recent backups, preparatory to (3) extracting the contents of the damaged projects to see what can be salvaged.
